The 'base' cream or ointment to which the active ingredient is added can often be very different.
Many of these 'bases' contain potential irritants

Most drugstore products are formulated for
the average person with insect bites, stings
or poison ivy type skin rash. They have been designed to treat a one-off problem for someone who does not have overly sensitive skin.
