Most shampoo manufacturers focus on the extra ingredients in their products, things like volumizing additives, fragrances and exotic botanical essences or extracts.
Too many shampoo products contain ingredients that may irritate sensitive skin and scalp, for those with eczema or seborrheic dermatitis - allergic reactions and skin rash are too common.
When it comes to ingredients the two worst offenders are SLS (Sodium Lauryl Sulfate) and CAPB (Cocamidopropyl Betaine) - both have been shown to cause skin irritation and CAPB has a reputation as a potential allergen.
If you have sensitive skin or a sensitive scalp make sure to check your shampoo label to avoid these two ingredients, along with other unnecessary additives and harsh chemicals.
We believe that eczema, dermatitis and sensitive skin sufferers are different. Eczema sufferers have very sensitive itchy skin and need to avoid even mild irritants whenever possible.
exederm has focused on functionality rather than appearance or smell. The objective is clean, healthy hair and scalp, we don't need artificial additives to do that.
exederm shampoo is an ultra sensitive low-foam shampoo that gently cleanses hair and scalp without irritation or itch.
I'm a satisfied, long-term customer who loves the gentle, yet thorough, cleansing of this shampoo. The pure, non-irritating formula is perfect for eczema sufferers as well as anyone wanting to avoid unnecessary chemical additives. An added bonus is the label stays intact in the shower - no more yucky, peeling messes!
My daughter has only used this shampoo twice but she already feels a difference. She said her head itched less after 1 shampoo!! We are excited to continue using the shampoo and will finally get a chance to try the conditioner. It's worth a try!!
I don't know where to start, except to say that I have no connection to this company. Otherwise really healthy, I have had scalp dermatitis and eczema for more than 30 years. No shampoos, foams, etc., prescribed by dermatologists were ever effective, except for Carmol, a 10% urea based shampoo made by Doak, which I successfully used for more than 20, by prescription. Then it went over-the-counter. Then it was discontinued, so I tried other shampoos, etc., to no avail. Eventually, I had a compounding pharmacy duplicate Carmol, and that worked (sorta) for a while, until the DEA for some reason said that it had to be by prescription, which I didn't want to get into again. At this point, earlier this year, I stumbled across Exederm. Amazing. I use it every day on my male, age 65, white hair, "scrubbing" it into my scalp and then letting the lather stay there for 2 or 3 minutes, depending on whether I have the time. Even if I don't, I just rinse it off (shower). After 3 months of this, my scalp is in better shape than it has been in for 30 years. Amazing!
